What it is
This is the experiment that started my acquaintance with the Meta Immersive Web SDK (iwsdk): a wave game in the void where you collect what gives you energy and get away from what drains it. Along the way it is a test of how the immersive web feels with a spatial interface, controllers and an “observer mode” on a flat screen.
How to play
- In a headset: point the controller and pull the trigger. In the browser: WASD and the mouse, click to fire.
- Collectable: coffee, whisky, anime girls, VR headsets — energy plus.
- Not collectable: money, work, girlfriends, bureaucracy — energy minus.
- Catching things in a row gives you a
COMBOand more points; every wave is harder and faster; when the energy runs out you go into contemplation.
What is inside
A start screen with the rules and a menu (“ENTER THE VOID”), a HUD with the score, the wave number and an energy bar, and a pulsing combo counter. The texts are in Russian and ironic about the process itself: “Mark, I’m in a VR headset, have mercy!”, “She knows what I had for breakfast. CachyOS, save me!”. One build serves both the headset and a flat screen.
