The brief
Create the complete sound environment and edit an animated short film about the poet Ermil Kostrov — an outstanding native of the Kirov region and the first translator of the Iliad into Russian.
Context
The animated film “Ermil Kostrov” was created on the initiative of the Slobodskoy Museum and Exhibition Centre by students and staff of VyatSU and the Vyatka Art College. The director, scriptwriter and artist was Maxim Naumov, and the film was voiced by Alexander Korolevsky, an actor of the Kirov “Theatre on Spasskaya”. The film runs for about five minutes and tells the story of the difficult life of the poet, a native of the village of Sinegorye in the Nagorsky district. Kostrov was the first in Russia to translate Homer’s Iliad and Apuleius’s Golden Ass into Russian, Catherine II admired his works, and Pushkin devoured his translations. Komsomolskaya Pravda wrote about the project.
