The experience

Weather outside gets a physical body inside the room. Wind crosses the space from its real direction; rain seeks horizontal surfaces; clouds dim the virtual sun; temperature and pressure change the colour, movement and height of the atmosphere.

Interaction

  • The −24h ← NOW → +24h timeline rewinds yesterday’s weather or the nearest forecast.
  • On Quest it is a spatial XR Blocks interface; phone and desktop retain an HTML timeline.
  • NOW returns to the current hour.

Data and limits

The app makes one Open-Meteo request from the browser’s location, then scrubs the loaded hourly series locally. Coordinates are used only for that request. With no network, an explicitly labelled synthetic scenario runs instead of pretending to be live weather. The simulator checks direction, scale and rainfall interaction; real depth-sensor quality is checked separately on Quest 3.

Google XR Blocks depends on WebXR. Required browser capabilities can be absent on iOS, including Safari, so this experiment may not start there. Quest 3 is the target platform; the desktop simulator is for testing the mechanics.
